2020 International Expedition - Applications

1.      The 2020 International Expedition will take place 4– 22 February 2020 for cadets. The expedition will start from Puerto Natales, Chile and will see the cadets completing a linear route of activities in Parque Nacional Torres del Paine, Chile, forming a complete loop back to Puerto Natales. This expedition will mainly focus on trekking and kayaking. It will also provide the cadets with an opportunity to practice leadership and navigation skills. 

2.       RCSU NW has been allocated 4 positions for this opportunity. 

CADET APPLICATIONS

3.       Cadets who are interested are to submit their application through their Corps Staff no later than (NLT) 28 October 2019.

ONLY ONE APPLICATION PER UNIT WILL BE PUT IN SELECTION PROCESS

The participation criteria is as follows:  

a.      be available during the period of 4 – 22 Feb 20;

b.      possess an exemplary record of cadet service and have demonstrated a high level of personal discipline;

c.      have completed successfully Regional Expedition;

d.       have the informed consent of their parent/guardian;

e.      be recommended by their Corps’ CO;

f.       be Gold Star Qualified;

g.      be a minimum of 16 years of age prior to the start of the expedition (4 Feb 20);

h.      participate as a support cadet at a Cadet Expedition Site (CES);

i.       have achieved at minimum the silver incentive level of the Cadet Fitness Assessment, within the last 12 months;

j.         be medically fit and have no participation limitations that could preclude taking part in any of the activities;

k.        must have a valid passport and must be able to travel internationally; and

l.       have not participated in a national or international expedition previously 

4.       Cadets must complete a one page cover letter that includes the following information:

a.       Why they desire to attend the expedition;

b.      What previous experience and qualified they have that has prepared them for this expedition; and

c.       How will they use their experience to promote the Army Cadet Program at their Corps and community
